Get A Brighter Smile With Teeth Whitening Options with Cosmetic Dentistry from Dr. David Robertson
Everybody wants brighter, whiter teeth. Having your teeth professionally whitened is a great way to make your smile more vibrant. We offer two at-home whitening solutions to fit your needs and your budget.
Nearly everyone experiences loss in tooth brightness over time. Acidic foods and dark-colored drinks, smoking, and medications can all make your teeth dingy and dark. Your teeth could also change color because of trauma beneath the enamel, or your teeth could be just getting darker with the passage of time. In any case, this loss of vibrance doesn’t have to be permanent.
Over-The-Counter Options
There are a number of over-the-counter whitening options available at your local drugstore, including toothpaste, gels, and adhesive strips. If these haven’t given you the results you want, or if you’re just more comfortable whitening your teeth with supervision from dental healthcare professionals, we encourage you to ask us about our at-home whitening options.
Our first option, the Go Whitening Kit, is the more affordable choice. These kits are self-administered and don’t require you to be fitted for a whitening retainer. The system includes a moldable whitening tray preloaded with a whitening gel. There are 10 applications in the box. By the end of treatment, your teeth should be noticeably whiter.
If you’d prefer more predictable results and a reusable whitening retainer, we also offer the NiteWhite system, by Phillips Zoom. This option does require you to be fitted for a custom tray. It’s also more expensive, but the price includes in-office monitoring as the whitening progresses. The process will take about 2 to 4 weeks. Your retainer tray can be used for touch-ups for years to come, and we offer additional NiteWhite gel for purchase at our office.
In both cases, your results will depend on your starting point. The typical result is 2-3 shades lighter. Teeth that have yellowed will whiten better and faster than teeth that are grey. Please also keep in mind that if you have dental restorations, such as filling and crowns, they won’t whiten and may become more noticeable as your natural teeth become lighter.
You might experience some tooth sensitivity with any whitening product. It usually subsides after a few days. Serious side effects are very rare, but if you’re experiencing problems, please let us know. We’ll work to help you find a whitening solution that fits your needs.
